Physical Education

Our Aim as a Department

Within our Physical Education Department we aim to deliver a wide range of sport and physical activities to provide our students with as many opportunities as possible.

Sport teaches you character, it teaches you to play rules, it teaches you to know what it feels like to win and lose. It teaches you about life – Billie Jean King

As a school we believe in raising aspirations and inspiring success, as a PE department we believe that both physical activity and sport not only delivers this but opens doors within our own subject and many others. Without our health our lives are dramatically effected negatively and we believe it is important to in still the substantial positive influence physical activity and sport brings to our lives holistically. Physical activity and sport not only has a physical benefit but a mental, social, cultural and future changing outcome.  There is a place for everyone in physical activity and sport whether it is as a participate, officiate or coach and it is our aim to allow our students to experience all of these and encourage future involvement.

Opportunities for our students in school

Not only do we aim to provide a wide range of activities within our PE lessons we also aim to provide a range of extracurricular clubs as well. Please check out the Sport Clubs section to see our latest clubs that are running this term. Furthermore, we aim to keep our own training up to date and relevant to provide as many high quality opportunities as possible. For example, we are privileged to have our own trampoline with both our PE teachers holding Level 2 Trampoline Teacher qualification. We are also advocates for using our excellent and local coaches who bring in fantastic expertise and links to encourage our students to continue their participation beyond the school bell.
